3GP is a compact video container built for 3G mobile phones; AAC is the audio format used by Apple, YouTube, and most streaming services. Converting 3GP to AAC strips the video stream and saves the audio track as a standalone .aac file. Set quality to balance file size against fidelity.
Drag one .3gp file or an entire folder of clips into Convertessa. Everything runs locally — nothing is uploaded.
Choose AAC from the output format list. Set quality to control how much the audio is compressed.
Click Convert. Convertessa extracts the audio track and writes an .aac file alongside each source file.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

AAC is a lossy format, so the quality setting you choose determines the trade-off between file size and fidelity. Higher quality preserves more of the original audio detail captured in the 3GP file.
