Your files stay on your Mac.
QuickTime MOV is Apple's container format for video, audio, and effects tracks — the native output of iPhone, iPad, and Mac cameras. Convertessa reads your MOV files locally and converts them into 23 formats: video containers such as MP4, MKV, and WebM; audio-only outputs such as AAC, MP3, FLAC, and WAV; and animated GIF. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Drag one clip or a whole folder onto Convertessa, or use File → Open to browse.
Choose MP4 for broad compatibility, WebM for the web, GIF for a looping clip, or any of the 23 available targets. Because MOV is a lossy container, you can also set quality to balance file size and fidelity.
Convertessa processes every file locally. Resolution is preserved. Metadata is stripped from the output.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Dial in compression, resolution and bitrate. Keep originals pristine or shrink for sharing.
Never overwrite a file by accident. Convertessa appends safe suffixes automatically.
Every job is logged locally. Re-run a previous conversion or revisit recent outputs in a click.
Bundle your converted files straight into a single ZIP, TAR or 7z — packaged and ready to share the moment a job finishes.
Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.

New formats, new features, and fixes — every release, on the record.
Yes. Convertessa decodes the MOV and re-encodes it into the target container. Use the quality setting to control output fidelity — higher quality means a larger file.
Yes. Choose any audio-only target — AAC, MP3, FLAC, WAV, OGG, and others — and Convertessa writes just the audio track from your MOV file.
Drop the folder onto Convertessa or run convertessa ./footage/ --to mp4 in the terminal. Every MOV file in the folder is converted in one pass.
