Your files stay on your Mac.
QuickTime MOV is Apple's native video container—used by iPhones, cameras, and Final Cut Pro. AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is a Windows-native format recognised by Windows Media Player and legacy video tools. Convertessa re-encodes each MOV locally so the resulting AVI plays wherever QuickTime isn't available.
Drag a single MOV file or an entire folder onto Convertessa. Batch mode queues every MOV in the folder for conversion in one pass.
Choose AVI from the output format list. Use the quality slider to control how the encoder balances visual fidelity against file size.
Click Convert. Convertessa re-encodes your files entirely on your Mac—nothing is uploaded—and saves the AVI files ready to use.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

AVI is a lossy format, so re-encoding involves a quality trade-off. Convertessa lets you set the quality level before converting, so you can prioritise visual fidelity or a smaller file size depending on your need.
Yes. Drag a folder onto Convertessa and every MOV file inside is queued automatically. You can also run convertessa /path/to/folder --to avi from the command line to batch-convert in one command.
