Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting AVI to Opus extracts the audio track from your video file and re-encodes it using the Opus codec — a modern, lossy format that delivers high-quality sound at compact file sizes. Convertessa processes everything on your Mac: no upload, no server, no internet required. Set quality to control how aggressively the audio is encoded.
Drag one AVI file or an entire folder into Convertessa. Batch processing handles as many files as you need in a single run.
Choose Opus from the output format list. Set quality to dial in the trade-off between file size and audio fidelity before converting.

Yes. Convertessa extracts the audio track and re-encodes it to Opus at the quality level you set. No channels are dropped or altered beyond the encoding step itself.
Opus is a lossy codec, so re-encoding always involves some quality trade-off. Use the quality setting in Convertessa to balance file size against fidelity — higher values preserve more of the original audio detail.
Yes. Drop a folder onto Convertessa or run convertessa /path/to/folder --to opus in Terminal. Every AVI inside is converted in one pass.
