Your files stay on your Mac.
BMP files store every pixel at full color depth with no compression, producing large uncompressed images. Converting to JPG applies lossy compression that dramatically reduces file size while preserving the visual quality you choose. The result is a widely supported JPEG image ready for the web, email, or any application.
Drag a single BMP file or an entire folder onto Convertessa. Files never leave your Mac — everything runs offline.
Select JPG from the output format list. Set quality to control the trade-off between file size and image detail.
Click Convert. Convertessa processes every BMP locally and writes JPG files at the resolution of the originals.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

No. Convertessa runs entirely offline. Your files are processed on your Mac and never sent to any server.
A quality of 80–90 is a good starting point for most images — it keeps the file noticeably smaller than BMP while preserving sharp detail. Lower values reduce the file further but introduce visible compression artifacts.
Yes. Convertessa strips EXIF and other embedded metadata from the output JPG, so location data, camera model, and similar personal information are removed.
