Your files stay on your Mac.
Man pages are written in roff — a macro-heavy typesetting language built for terminal renderers, not text editors. Emacs Muse is a lightweight plaintext markup format made for reading and writing inside Emacs. Convertessa reads each .man file's roff structure and writes equivalent Muse markup, mapping section headings, paragraphs, and inline emphasis to their Muse counterparts.
Drag one or more .man files — or an entire folder — onto Convertessa. No upload, no account: every file stays on your Mac throughout.
Pick Emacs Muse from the output format list. Convertessa targets the standard .muse format, preserving the document structure from the original roff source.
Click Convert. Convertessa processes each file locally and writes the .muse output to the folder you specify, leaving your originals untouched.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Convertessa parses the standard man-page macro sets (man and mdoc), mapping structural macros — .TH, .SH, .SS, .PP, .B, .I — to their Muse equivalents. Vendor-specific or non-standard macros outside the common set are preserved as literal text in the output.
Yes. Drop a folder onto the app window or use the CLI: convertessa ./man-pages/ --to muse. Every .man file in the folder is converted; other file types are skipped.
Yes. Convertessa strips embedded metadata from the source files during conversion. The resulting .muse file contains only the document content.
