Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting Markdown to JATS XML maps your headings, paragraphs, lists, and inline elements to the Journal Article Tag Suite schema required by academic publishers and repositories such as PubMed Central. Convertessa runs entirely on your Mac — your files are never uploaded to any server. Convert a single document or an entire folder of Markdown files in one pass, and metadata is stripped from every output file.
Drag one or more .md files into Convertessa, or point it at a folder to include every Markdown document inside.
Choose JATS XML from the output format list. Convertessa maps your Markdown headings, paragraphs, lists, and inline formatting to the corresponding JATS article elements.
Click Convert. Each Markdown file becomes a valid JATS XML document ready for publisher submission or repository deposit. Resolution is preserved and metadata is stripped from the output.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.
