Your files stay on your Mac.
Convertessa reads your .md files and removes every Markdown syntax character — heading hashes, asterisks, backticks, link brackets, blockquote chevrons — leaving only the raw prose as a .txt file. The text content of links and images is kept; the markup is discarded. Everything runs locally on your Mac; no file ever leaves your machine.
Drag one .md file or an entire folder onto Convertessa. There is no upload step and no file-size cap — processing happens entirely on your machine.
Pick Plain Text (.txt) from the output format list. Convertessa will strip all Markdown syntax and write each result alongside your originals.
Click Convert. Each .md file becomes a matching .txt file containing only the prose content. Document metadata is stripped from the output.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Never overwrite a file by accident. Convertessa appends safe suffixes automatically.
Every job is logged locally. Re-run a previous conversion or revisit recent outputs in a click.

No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.

All syntax characters are stripped: heading hashes, asterisks and underscores for emphasis, backticks and fenced code-block markers, bracket-and-paren link notation, image syntax, blockquote chevrons, and horizontal rules. The visible text content of links and image alt text is preserved; only the markup is discarded.
