Your files stay on your Mac.
Convertessa reads your .muse source files and maps Muse headings, paragraphs, and inline markup to the corresponding groff macros — .SH, .PP, bold and italic escapes — writing a .man file ready to pass to man(1) or ship with a software package. Conversion runs entirely on your Mac; no file upload, no network call. Drop a whole folder to process an entire Muse documentation tree in one pass.
Drag one .muse document or a whole folder onto Convertessa. The app lists every Muse file it finds so you can review the queue before starting.
Choose Man Page (roff) from the output format list. Set quality to control how faithfully inline markup is rendered in the roff output.
Click Convert. Convertessa writes a .man file for each source document, stripping embedded Muse metadata in the process. Files land alongside the originals or in a destination folder of your choice.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.
