Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting MXF to AC-3 extracts the audio stream from your Material Exchange Format footage and re-encodes it as Dolby Digital. The output carries mono, stereo, or 5.1 surround channels and is accepted by broadcast delivery pipelines, NLEs, and disc-authoring tools. You can set output quality before converting; files never leave your Mac.
Drag individual MXF clips or a whole folder into Convertessa. Batch mode processes every file in the folder in a single pass.
Pick AC-3 from the output format list, then set the quality level to match your delivery spec.
Click Convert. Convertessa runs entirely on your Mac — no upload, no account, no cloud queue.

New formats, new features, and fixes — every release, on the record.
Yes. Convertessa preserves the channel layout from the source MXF — mono, stereo, or 5.1 surround — when encoding to AC-3.
Yes. Run convertessa /footage --to ac3 from the command line, or drag a folder into the app. Every MXF file in the folder is converted in one pass.
Before clicking Convert, adjust the quality setting in Convertessa. Because AC-3 is a lossy format, a higher quality setting produces a larger file with better audio fidelity.
