Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting an Ogg file to AC-3 extracts the audio stream and re-encodes it as Dolby Digital—the format used in Blu-ray discs, broadcast TV, and home-theatre receivers. Convertessa performs the conversion entirely on your Mac; files never leave your device. Set quality before converting to dial in the output fidelity.
Drag one Ogg file or an entire folder of them into Convertessa. Batch mode processes every .ogv in the folder in a single pass.
Choose AC-3 from the output format list. Set quality to control output fidelity—higher values produce fuller-sounding Dolby Digital audio at the cost of a larger file.
Click Convert. Convertessa re-encodes the audio stream offline and saves each AC-3 file alongside the original. No upload, no account required.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.

New formats, new features, and fixes — every release, on the record.
No. Convertessa runs entirely on your Mac. Your Ogg files are never uploaded to any server—conversion happens locally and the resulting AC-3 files stay on your machine.
Yes. Drag the folder into Convertessa or use the CLI: convertessa /path/to/folder --to ac3. Every .ogv file in the folder is converted in one batch.
AC-3 is a lossy format, so the quality setting controls the fidelity of the re-encoded audio. Higher quality preserves more of the original sound; lower quality produces a smaller file. Choose based on your playback needs.
