Your files stay on your Mac.
Convertessa reads your Sony RAW (SRF) files and re-encodes them as AVIF, a modern image format that achieves smaller files than JPEG at the same perceived quality. Conversion runs entirely on your Mac — no file is uploaded, and full sensor resolution is preserved. EXIF and embedded metadata are stripped from every output file.
Drag one or more .srf files into Convertessa, or point it at a whole folder to queue a batch. Everything stays on your Mac — nothing is uploaded.
Choose AVIF from the output format list, then set quality to dial in the balance between file size and image fidelity.
Click Convert. Convertessa decodes each RAW file at full resolution and writes an AVIF alongside the original. Batch jobs run in parallel and finish in the background.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Never overwrite a file by accident. Convertessa appends safe suffixes automatically.
Every job is logged locally. Re-run a previous conversion or revisit recent outputs in a click.
Bundle your converted files straight into a single ZIP, TAR or 7z — packaged and ready to share the moment a job finishes.
Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.

New formats, new features, and fixes — every release, on the record.
AVIF is a lossy format, so the output quality depends on the quality setting you choose. At high quality settings the difference from the RAW source is visually negligible, while lower settings produce much smaller files. Convertessa never applies a quality setting without your input — you set it explicitly before converting.
Yes. Drag a folder into Convertessa to queue every .srf file inside it, or run convertessa ./folder/ --to avif from the command line. Convertessa processes the batch in parallel and writes each AVIF next to its source file.
Yes. Convertessa strips all EXIF and embedded metadata from AVIF output files. If you need to retain metadata, keep the original SRF files — the AVIF copies are clean by default.
