Converting a TTC font collection to OTF pulls each font face out of the collection and rewraps its outlines in the OTF container, entirely on your Mac. This works for faces built with PostScript/CFF outlines; faces that are TrueType-flavored convert to TTF instead. Either way the glyph outlines, hinting, and kerning are copied unchanged — nothing is redrawn.
