Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting a Windows Media file to Apple CAF extracts the audio track and rewraps it in Apple's Core Audio Format container. CAF is the native audio format for macOS and iOS, used by Xcode, GarageBand, and CoreAudio tools. Because CAF is lossless and has no file-size ceiling, the extracted audio is kept at full fidelity.
Drag one WMV file or an entire folder into Convertessa. Files never leave your Mac — all processing happens on-device.
In the output format list, choose Apple CAF. Convertessa will extract the audio track from each Windows Media file and write a .caf container.
Hit Convert. Convertessa processes every file in one pass, strips embedded EXIF and metadata, and saves the .caf files alongside the originals.

Yes. Apple CAF is a lossless container, so the audio extracted from your Windows Media file is not re-encoded with any quality loss. The original audio stream is preserved as-is inside the new CAF wrapper.
CAF is an audio-only format, so the video track is not carried over. Convertessa extracts the audio track and writes it to a .caf file. If you need to keep the video, convert to a video format instead.
Yes. Drag the folder into the app or pass the folder path on the command line with convertessa ./folder/ --to caf. Convertessa processes every WMV file in the folder in one batch run.
