Your files stay on your Mac.
GIMP's XCF format stores every layer, mask, and channel as a live editing session. Converting to PNG flattens those layers into a single composite image encoded without any loss. The result is a universally readable file that preserves every pixel exactly as it appears on the final GIMP canvas.
Drag one XCF file — or an entire project folder — into Convertessa. Nothing is uploaded; every file stays on your Mac.
Pick PNG from the output format list. Convertessa will flatten all GIMP layers and produce a lossless PNG for each file.
Click Convert. Your PNG files appear alongside the originals, full resolution preserved and GIMP-specific metadata stripped.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Yes. GIMP embeds layer names, brush settings, and other editor metadata inside the XCF file. Convertessa strips that data from the PNG output, producing a clean, portable image.
Yes. Drop a folder onto Convertessa or pass its path with convertessa ./folder --to png. Every XCF file inside is converted in one batch.
