Your files stay on your Mac.
Converting Monkey's Audio to Apple CAF decodes the .ape stream and repacks it into Apple's Core Audio container — no re-encoding, no quality loss. CAF removes the 4 GB file-size ceiling and carries extended channel layouts natively, making it a reliable archive format for Mac-based audio workflows. Your files stay on your Mac the entire time.
Drag one .ape file or an entire folder into Convertessa. The app reads Monkey's Audio files and queues them for conversion — nothing is uploaded.
In the output list, Choose Apple CAF as the target format. Because CAF stores audio losslessly, no quality setting is needed.
Click Convert. Convertessa decodes each .ape file and writes a matching .caf alongside it, preserving the original bit depth and sample rate.

Yes. CAF is Apple's own container, built into Core Audio on macOS and iOS. QuickTime Player, Logic Pro, and most Apple frameworks open .caf files without extra codecs.
