Your files stay on your Mac.
MXF wraps audio and video in a single broadcast container. Converting to MP3 extracts the audio stream and encodes it as a standalone file you can drop into any editor, podcast tool, or media player. Files never leave your Mac — the conversion runs entirely offline.
Drag one file or an entire camera-card folder into Convertessa. MXF files from XDCAM, P2, and other broadcast sources are all supported.
Choose MP3 from the output format list. Set the quality level to balance file size against audio fidelity — higher quality means larger files.
Click Convert. Convertessa extracts the audio track and writes one MP3 per source file. Resolution and frame data are discarded; only the audio is kept.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

First-class support for HEIC, AVIF and WebP — encode and decode, both ways. Read JPEG XL and a dozen more modern formats too.
Drop files anywhere on the window. Native, instant, and exactly what you’d expect on a Mac.
Dial in compression, resolution and bitrate. Keep originals pristine or shrink for sharing.
Never overwrite a file by accident. Convertessa appends safe suffixes automatically.
Every job is logged locally. Re-run a previous conversion or revisit recent outputs in a click.
Bundle your converted files straight into a single ZIP, TAR or 7z — packaged and ready to share the moment a job finishes.
Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.

New formats, new features, and fixes — every release, on the record.
MP3 is a lossy format, so some audio data is discarded during encoding. Convertessa lets you set the quality level before converting — choose a higher setting to preserve more detail at the cost of a larger file.
Yes. Drop the entire folder onto Convertessa or pass the folder path to the CLI (convertessa /Volumes/P2CARD/ --to mp3). Every MXF file found is converted and written to the same folder as a sibling MP3.
No. Convertessa strips metadata during conversion, so the output MP3 contains no embedded production or camera metadata from the source MXF.
