Your files stay on your Mac.
MXF is a broadcast-grade container that wraps audio tracks alongside video and timecode data. Convertessa reads each MXF file, pulls out the audio content, and writes it to a lossless, uncompressed WAV file. The video, timecode, and container wrapper are discarded — you get the raw audio.
Drag one MXF file or an entire folder onto Convertessa. The app reads MXF containers from broadcast cameras, NLEs, and archive systems without uploading anything.
Choose WAV from the output format list. WAV is an uncompressed, lossless format accepted by every DAW, video editor, and broadcast tool.
Click Convert. Convertessa extracts the audio tracks from each MXF and writes one WAV file per source. Everything runs locally on your Mac — no internet connection required.
Images, audio, video, documents, archives and eBooks — all converted natively, right on your Mac.

Dial in compression, resolution and bitrate. Keep originals pristine or shrink for sharing.
Never overwrite a file by accident. Convertessa appends safe suffixes automatically.
Every job is logged locally. Re-run a previous conversion or revisit recent outputs in a click.
Bundle your converted files straight into a single ZIP, TAR or 7z — packaged and ready to share the moment a job finishes.
Right-click any file in Finder and choose Convert. A Quick Action handles it on the spot — no need to open the app first.
Shrink Convertessa to a tidy mini window that tucks into a corner — just a drop zone and a format picker for quick, one-off conversions.
No cloud. No account. No upload. Every conversion happens entirely on-device, using the power already in your Mac. What you convert is nobody’s business but yours.
Script conversions, wire them into your build, or batch a folder from the terminal. The same engine, no GUI required.

No. WAV is an uncompressed, lossless format. Convertessa extracts the audio data from the MXF container and writes it to WAV without re-encoding, preserving the original sample rate and bit depth exactly.
Yes. Drag a folder onto Convertessa or pass a folder path on the command line with convertessa /path/to/folder --to wav. Each MXF file in the folder produces its own WAV file.
Only the audio content is written to the WAV output. Video tracks, timecode, and container metadata are not included — the output is audio only.
